Since the world has opened up, my style has fallen a bit flat. I gave birth in the first week of the first lockdown and thanks to everything going a bit bonkers, I’ve spent about a year in my pyjamas.
Basically, my wardrobe needed some work and I wasn’t quite ready for the world to see me.

How My Post Pandemic Wardrobe Will Look
Truthfully, I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to comfort. I’ve spend a long time in pyjamas, I had day pyjamas, and night pyjamas and scruffy pyjamas and posh pyjamas. I have PJs for all occasions but have come to terms with the fact, those occasions are all behind closed doors. The world isn’t ready for me to wear PJs in public, so I really needed some clothes.
I very carefully selected some clothing that would look great but bridge the gap between my nightwear and getting fully dressed-up wear. I think the lockdowns have changed the face of fashion and lots of wardrobe staples are suddenly out.
Even wearing skinny jeans means you’re an oldie! Baggies are back in and I’m here for it. Even when you want to get dressed up, stretchy clothes are the forefront of fashion.
Loungewear is here to stay
Loungewear is well and truly here for good. People got used to stretchy waistbands and now they’re not going back. Well, I’m not going back, anyway!
Hoodies and joggers are my absolute fave. I got this cute lilac set, but grey loungewear is currently having a moment. I think the influence of Mrs Hinch and her greyscale home has made grey the colour you need. I do like grey, but lilac caught my eye this time and I had to have it!
A soft and stretchy waistband is a great way to introduce your body to outdoor clothes once again. As summer approaches (or is it here already? It’s hard to tell in England!) I’ll be packing the hoodies away for the winter, but for now I’m enjoying the comfort and coverage.
Co-Ords Are Still Very Much IN
I used to hate outfit pairing. Don’t get me wrong, I love fashion, but I would often buy items of clothing individually, then have no clothes that went well together. It’s a pitfall of buying clothes that appeal to you on a whim. If you don’t plan your wardrobe, you can end up with loads of clothes but nothing to wear.
The exception to this rule is of course, buying co ord sets. If you buy a co ord, it takes all the thinking out of your outfit. You basically buy a style that’s ready to go. Co-ords are at least two piece of matching clothing, but if you go for a summer co-ord, there might be a kimono or a hair tie thrown in. If you’re lucky, you might even have five pieces in total, but realistically, the norm is two.
Even Dresses Can Stretch
Tight party dresses don’t need to be restrictive. I am in love with this midi bodycon dress, it’s black and stretchy so it accentuates your curves. The spaghetti strap and midi length ensures you show off your skin but don’t feel on display.
Honestly, if you invest in one little black dress this summer, get a black bodycon midi. You can wear it for every occasion and look absolutely perfect.
Show Off Your Shoulders
Summer is the perfect time to show off those shoulders. Either go for a one-shoulder number, an off-the-shoulder look, or something entirely strapless. Shoulders are this year’s midriffs and everyone can get in on the trend.
For a modern look, invest in a milkmaid top. They’re so versatile! You can wear them with joggers for laid back style, or team with a skirt for a more dressed-up vibe.
If you really want to lean in to the vintage association of milk maid tops, you could look out for a gingham one to give a nod to the 50’s style.
Remember that whatever your style, fashion should always be fun. Try not to sweat the small stuff, I know a lot of people are feeling nervous venturing out to social events after spending so long at home, but we’re all in the same boat. People are just pleased to see you, and I promise you, you’ll look nothing short of stunnig.
