Setting up the Perfect Study Space for Your Child

As exams are the most stressful period for most children, especially when they’re tackling their GCSEs, it’s important they have a place to go that’ll work on their revision and homework. While every home is different, even the smallest quiet spaces can work for children to get stuck into their studies with minimal distractions. Here are ways to set up the perfect space for your child, courtesy of this private college in London.

Work with what learning style your child excels in

Each person is different in terms of how they learn and how they revise. Understand what learning style your child works best with and how you can use that to give them the best studying space for their needs. For people that learn best through writing and reading, flash card sets and plenty of writing equipment is a must. For those that need audio-visual help, offer to help your child go through different questions by speaking through them, or offer to let them use a laptop for specific revision use.

Prepare a quiet space, but offer some compromises

Some people actually work well when there’s music on in the background, others prefer the sound of white noise as they study, whereas others need to have absolute silence as they work. See what works with your child and how you can help them study in the best way possible. If they say they prefer to have music on then get them some headphones for them and measure how much studying they manage to get done. Trust your child in what they know works for them.

Provide a good set of furniture for them to use

It’s not always possible, especially if you have a small home or apartment, but a range of equipment that will help your child’s posture and muscles will help them work much better with enough comfort for them. Invest in ergonomic equipment that will give your child the best support for when they’re spending multiple hours in the zone.
