With summer just around the corner, you may be thinking about what you can do to your garden to get it ready for the warmer weather. You might be hoping to entertained guests, ensure it’s a safe and enjoyable place for your children to enjoy during their school break, or maybe you just want to create a relaxing environment for you to experience after work. Whatever your motives, here are some tips to get you started.
Fix Your Fence

Most traditional fence panels are manufactured to last a long time. However, the harsh winter weather can wreak havoc on your fence and cause damage that you will need to repair or replace. If your fence is leaning slightly, you might just need adjust and secure your fence posts. Fencing can also rot, which can spread and cause further damage, so if you notice your fence is rotting slightly, you will need to replace it.
Clean Up
Sometimes all a garden needs is a little spruce up to really transform it into a stunning space, meaning you don’t necessarily have to spend a penny. Cut back any overgrown bushes, dig up the pesky weeds and give your lawn a mow.
If you have decking, you might need to give it a clean as muddy footprints and spilt food and drink can make it look quite dull. It’s worth noting that a pressure washer is perfectly safe to use on composite decking, as long as it does not exceed 3000psi of pressure.
Invest in Somewhere to Relax
Garden seating is a must for summer. When the nice weather arrives, you’re bound to want to be out in the sunshine. Sofas and chairs are a pretty standard choice, but a hammock can really transform your garden into the relaxing haven it deserves to be.
Consider Your Edging
Edging your garden is the perfect finishing touch and can keep everything looking neat and tidy. There are lots of options when it comes to edging, such as railway sleepers, natural stone or traditional bricks. You could even consider building some raised flower beds to edge your garden, because you’ll be able to create a unique plant feature while also emphasising the edge.
